all of the above,

used to be mainly, techno/trance, hiphop, and afghan while also as hobby like to make music... used to make techno/trance... and some hiphop instrumentals... but been busy a lot so just stick to listening to all types... most however would be afghan and of the artists:

Wahid Qasemi
Farhad Darya
Ahmad Zahir
Ahmad Wali
Haider Saleem (Ghazal ones only which are damn nice when he uses his nice voice properly)

Hindi and Angelina julie and being khatarnak don't mix.
Hindi songs mean calm, quite, sharmondok girls,
angelina julie and being khatarnaak means talkative, "khatarnak", daring girls,

so you are contradicting yourselfak, :P :P :P :P

sorry m8, didn't notice this thread that I'd replied to...

like the AI discussion, I can forget things sumtimes :( :D

regarding your question, all depends how much you are interested, what types of things you are interested in and such... however if beginning and want to get a taste of the music, I'd simply recommend doing it on a computer through software... many pros do use it for creation, thus said depends on what you like, mixing for example has the taste when on the dj set (turntables, etc.) which will cost you...

as for music creation and direction, the software alternative is very good and powerful... one package that's very good for a wide spectrum of beginners to pros = Fruity Loops Studio (www.fruityloops.com), one I still use when I get chance to play around, as such things are loop related, but when you get a hang of it you can add on VSTIs (similar to "addon upgrades" to software = plugins) to accomplish a lot more. One very simplistic for beginners is Sonic Foundry Acid (now bought by Sony) which basically requires you to enter in pre made short music clips which you can put end to end to flow, and already beat matched...

I'd recommend you try out Fruity Loops and see from there ;) do be aware that audio is system intensive so good computer hardware is required ;)... nothing is cheap unfortunately :D

By the way, I like classic music, but not songs. Does anyone know Yanni? I like his music, its a mixture of classic/modern, i love those tones.

play around with them and you'll see how it goes... did it for 3 years as well as sets a lot, so played around a lot i guess :D just can be soothing at times to express self in other manners ;)... and at times frustrating too

as for classical music... yes, know the music to appreciate the true taste and ones like ghazals provide that through meaningful actual lyrics, so yes i listen, and yes Yanni as well at times, soothing and good
