My friend wrote this beautiful poem, but she is too shy to post it.. tell me what you guys think.
Do you know who I am?
My clothes torn to pieces, my tears dried in my eyes
My hair covered in dust, my feet bleeding on glass
My stomach grumbling from hunger, my life near the end
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of war
My age is only seven, yet I am all alone
My family died right in front me, when the village was burnt
They killed men and women, young or old
Animals and plants, needed or not
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of pain
They destroyed our houses, schools, farms
Stole our sisters, took our brothers, left us all alone
Whoever dared to stand against them,
was gone like the rest
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of sorrow
My country used to be red with roses, green with grass
The mountains standing high and the sky blue
Now there are rivers of blood flowing all around
Mountains of death built in each corner
And the sky over them, burning black from anger
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of grief
The enemy…I cannot name them
There are too many that come and go
One is from north one is from south
One is form east one is from west
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of innocence
I hear that others kick food around
I search for dried bread in the rubbish
I hear that others watch clowns and laugh
I watch death and weep
Do you know who I am?
I am the forgotten child
Day and night I dream
Of the white bird that would fly in the sky
Of the fresh breeze of the morning that would hit my face
Of the songs of birds that would wake me up
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of hope
Ruins all around me, piled up high
Rockets come one after the other without a break
The houses explode and the dust rises
Children cry and elders run
Do you know who I am?
I am the child of death
Do not close your eyes!
Do not turn your back on me!
Do not support the enemy!
I cant live like this any longer!
Now do you know who I am?
I am the child of Afghanistan
