Tragedy in Vancouver, Nasrat Parsa Passes Away
May 08, 2005, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Virtual Afghans has learned from its sources in Vancouver, Canada, that Nasrat Parsa, a well known Afghan artist passed away at 11:45pm on May 9th, due to a tragic incident that happened outside his hotel room in Downtown Vancouver after midnight when he was followed by a group of angry and outraged group of guys. The incident happened when Nasrat was pushed from the stairs by a group of four Afghan guys who had consumed alchohol during the concert, in which "they felt embarrassed once they were told by Nasrat that he will not continue singing fast songs because it was not a wedding"; the concert was held in celebration of Mother's Day, which began on Saturday 8pm - 12:30am, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Nasrat sustained brain injury as he was punched or pushed (unconfirmed) off the stairs. The falling resulted in internal brain bleeding which made the chances of Nasrat's survival very less. Doctors tried their best, but after a while, as witnessed by Virtual Afghans' visitors in Vancouver, Nasrat was unconscious and hsi brain stopped working while other parts of his body was intact and properly working.

Yaow Me' Zwani Da, Bel Me' Der De Armandoona"

Virtual Afghans has also learned that two arrests have been made as police is still investigating the event which shocked Afghan residents in British Columbia, Canada. Nasrat Parsa, who was on tour of Canada, performing his first concert in Toronto, Canada, in which he was greeted by warm welcoming and cheerful crowd. However, such fights and incidents are sadly very common amongst Afghan youth who consume alchohol in such meaningful cultural events.

Some 150 music loving and Parsa fans had gathered in Vancouver General Hospital in mourn and support when he left us at around 11:45 pm, pacific standard time.

On Mother's Day, Parsa's mother paid the ultimate price and received the worst gift a mother can have on Mother's Day.

May God give her and the rest of Parsa family Sabr'. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go the Parsa's family and close ones.

Khuda bebakhshesh was famil esha sabr beta. This is truly a sad incident. But, as shocking this is, I am not surprised. I knew down the line something like this would happen in an afghan function. After going to concerts, I have realized that afghan people are not worthy of anything but apathy.

I was not a big fan of Nasrat, but this has touched a cord with me.

    Unhappy Nasrat's Passing

I am from Vancouver, Canada, and the tragic death of Nasrat is all over our news here. The news stations said that there were three Afghani men that attacked him after the concert after they had been drinking alcohol and were not happy with the concert. I am not from Afghanistan nor am I Afghani but I am positive that I am speaking on behalf of all of Canada when I say that we are very, very sad to learn of Nasrat's death and the terrible way he died, and we offer our condolences to the family of Nasrat and all the Afghani people around the world. May Nasrat rest in peace.

    Default Nasrat Parsa

    Salam,

Just wanted to pay deepest condolences to Nasrat's family, friends and fans. It is such a tragedy that most of us Afghans never tend to grow up and learn what someone else's life means.
We always complain about how all other cultures are so united and always support and promote their culture and their artists. We have to start from our own homes before we can point to others. We seriously need role models for these Afghan Youth who thinks that being in a gang or not being afraid of hurting others or being hurt is cool. We always tend to pick the worst points of any individual and follow that. That is why we are so behind not only as far as our Country is concerned but also morally. Our youth has to change their names into Italian or Spanish names inorder for them to feel secure and get noticed, yet they always make a point that they are Afghan. It is a shame to Afghans if being an Afghan means you have to pick fights everywhere you go and put other people down and disrespects others. That is not what an Afghan is. Why did a young person, someone's son, someone's husband, someone's brother had to die just because he didn't sing one song 10 times for some drunkard. I hope and wish that the person who brought on this tragedy gets what he deserves. I would like to wish that our youth can learn one bit of a lesson from this, but that is only wishful thinking, because as long as we have youth who give up their education for life on the streets and with gangs and we have no role models who can help them through the right path we will always have such tragedies.

Today I am sad to be an Afghan.........

I am angry and upset, others chrish there singers, like INDIA and USA. and its only the afghans specialy *gang wanna bees* that make fun of there singers and believes they can sing better then the popullar singer such as Mr. Parsa. Well i hope they kill these MORONS that change Mr. Parsa's families Lives. When it gets to Canada's Justice i can assure you, its not easy to get away with First Degree murder!!!!

I hope we learn from this Mistake, and be thankfull we are alive while living in different countries.

    Salam

this bout Nasrat Parsa's death khudaah bubaksha..As afghans we are always looking for someone to blame rather than doing that we should change ourselves. Secondly, ppl are saying many things about who killed who and what not, the news and wat ppl say are biased in other words they are someones oppinions, rumors or just ppl wanting to invent stories to entertain themselves . DO NOT be quick to believe everything u hear b/c i am from vancouver and i noe wat has happened and the million stories i have heard are not even close to the truth.

This message is for "Truthful" the person who said that they are in Vancouver and that they know what happened and that the news and what other people say are not even close to the truth and that they are biased. Just to let you know I am in Toronto and I have heard Nasrat's story from about 15 different sources and they all basically say the same story including the news. As far as the news being biased, there should be a motive for the news to be biased and I don't see any kind of motive for them. If it had anything to do with politics I would be the first to agree with them being biased, but in this case I don't see a reason for them to place blame on someone with out cause. This is not Afghanistan that blame gets put on people who don't deserve it and have enough money and others can get away with murder. But again if you know something and you think we should know the truth as you seen it as an eye witness we would be more than glad to hear what "really" happened. When I read your comment I assumed that you would have the actual story as you seen it, backing up what you wrote about everyone having the story wrong and so on. So please I am interested in knowing what happened from a person who was there. Thanks

    Default GOD BLESS MR.NASRAT PARSA

I would like to convey my condolences on death of Mr. Nasrat Parsa, may Allah bless his soul, he will be remembered by his family and fans all over the world for ever. AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEND MY CONDOLENCES SPECIALLY TO MR.PARSA's MOTHER. As some of the people have said this is the worst mother day's gift to mother. NO MOTHER ever wanna see their child dead body. May allah give his mother sabr.

And i wanted to mension something here about how some of topics here or on the other forms already brought up ethnic names. Some one on this form has said about the guy who puch him was HAZARA can we please stop this. Why are starting new problems for ourselves. The same problem made us leave our country. Why do we have to judge people so fast so what if he is HAZARA we can not go after all hazara's for Mr.PARSA's dead. Iam pretty sure the guy who did this act will be punished but lets not make life hard for other afghans who wants to live a decent life here in canada or any other countries. We are all afghans thats all.

GOD BLESS MR.PARSA HE WILL BE REMEMBERRED BY EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD.

    REGARDS

i so take Mahnaz's side....i have heard many different stories and they all seem to fit together. agar tu dede amrahey ar doo chashmayet khay marah bogo, agar nay chupbosh. just because ur from vancouver it do'nt mean that u know everything that happened.

this is to: sitarah... u shouldn't beg her to know the truth... cuz she doesn't even know... if ur reallly interested listen to the radio on sunday nights at 9p.m on 106.4 f.m....they interview singers such as habib and faiz qaderi, farhad darya, and some of nasrat parsa's family members.
